Meter
Meter events
Meter includes 100,000 events each month. After that, usage is deducted from your available credit at automatic graduated rates.
The displayed Meter prices are all-in. No additional UsageTap percentage fee is added.

A customer with 150,000 monthly Meter events receives the first 100,000 events free. The remaining 50,000 events are charged at the applicable Meter rate. No additional percentage fee is added.
Compression

A saved token is the positive difference between the original and compressed token counts after validation. If there are no saved tokens, there is no Compression usage charge.

Common billing questions
What is included when I start?
Every new UsageTap account includes monthly allowances of 100,000 Meter events and 5 million saved tokens. No card is required, and a one-time $10 starting credit is included for usage beyond those allowances or optional AI-powered work. The starting credit does not replenish, but both usage allowances reset each month. Using it does not begin a paid subscription.
What counts as a Meter event?
Each custom Meter event you submit counts once. For recorded AI calls, the matching start-and-end lifecycle counts once when the call reaches a completed or failed state. Idempotent retries of the same event and UsageTap's own dashboards, forecasts, alerts, synchronization, and internal metering records do not create additional Meter events.
When is Compression charged?
A saved token is the positive difference between the original and compressed token counts after validation. Skipped requests, unchanged results, compression errors, and fallback to the original prompt record zero saved-token usage. The first 5 million saved tokens each month are included; additional saved tokens are $0.30 per million.
Are Meter and Compression prices all-in?
Yes. No additional UsageTap percentage fee is added to the displayed Meter or saved-token rates. Optional LLM-powered operations may have a separate managed-AI charge, which is shown before the work runs.
Does my application's direct AI usage consume UsageTap credit?
Your AI provider bills you directly for calls made through your application's existing provider integration. That provider cost does not consume UsageTap credit and UsageTap does not mark it up. Meter or Compression usage may consume credit after the monthly allowances are exhausted.
Do I have to use the UsageTap Gateway?
No. UsageTap Meter works with your application's existing provider integration. The Gateway is optional for teams that want UsageTap-managed provider access, routing, caching, failover, or inline compression.
How is optional UsageTap-managed AI priced?
The standard self-serve rate is the underlying provider cost plus a 15% UsageTap service fee. It applies to optional Gateway calls and AI-powered operations that purchase or manage LLM usage for you. If your account has agreed custom terms, its account-specific rate applies instead.
How do credit top-ups work?
Top-ups are manual and there is no funding fee. The full amount purchased is added to your UsageTap credit balance. Automatic top-ups are not currently enabled and no automatic charge is made.
Where can I download my invoices?
Organization admins can open Billing, select Invoices, and view finalized Stripe invoices for PAYG top-ups. When Stripe provides a PDF, the invoice row includes a Download PDF link.
